A Special Meditation For All, After a Year on Substack!
Thank you for being with me, and supporting me...and 1 Huge, Good Thing and a Few Funny Things...
Hello friends!
I cannot believe it’s been a year since I ventured onto Substack. I thank each and every one of you for venturing with me as I refined my approach. I love the lack of hubris on Substack..no ads, no influencers…just writing, thoughts, opinions, prose, poetry,
I have spent the past few weeks moving into a stunning new space about which I am very happy. I am surrounded by beauty and quiet and can already feel the inspiration building. Tomorrow with the help of a dear and knowledgeable friend, we start the studio set up, which I will document here. The new room is breath taking and I can’t wait to share. It will be the inspiration and creative home for the final version of my show (Born of the Sun), my new album (Calming Music For Animals and Humans) which is based on the solo piano pieces I recorded and shared here last year, the release of the Tumble Leaf soundtrack, Volume 3, and ….an exciting new score for a film maker with whom I have collaborated for years! ( More info on that soon, but trust me it is gorgeous~!)
Before I share my gift with you, I thought I’d share a few moving (literally) moments from my past week. I have moved quite a few times in my life and have rarely had a bad experience. I’ve been surrounded by kind people who were excited to help move me (and my piano) to a new place. However last week, I had what can only be described as a shit show. The movers (who shall remain nameless) arrived 3 hours late, and …wait for it… drunk! The day went downhill from there and featured near fist fights between the workers, swearing contests, belligerent and degrading comments to the one female mover who then left half way through the day. (Fully supported her in that btw). Her boyfriend then left, leaving 2 workers to handle the job of 4. So The Head Mover Man decided it would be a good idea to enlist the help of a homeless person he met on the street who, literally, could hardly walk. (He was very nice, but the way a caterpillar is nice or a snail). By the time the day was done, I had a studio full of unwrapped furniture on its side, kitchen boxes piled on bedroom boxes piled on studio boxes, and quite a collection of cigarette butts and empty PLASTIC liquor bottles on the street. I had 2 dear friends helping without whom I surely would have collapsed. I did totally lose it at one point when I walked out to a full on screaming match between workers. I took one look ( and heard several “you a*&^hole”, and “F yous” etc) and screamed at the top of my lungs EVERYONE SHUT UP NOW! It worked. Everyone stopped talking. and stared at me. I took control as best I could, reminded folks that this was my moving day, not a WWE filming, and could we please finish this damn job! I know the planets were in a strange configuration but…REALLY?
Flexibility is the name of the game these days. I had a huge practise session this weekend for sure.
So it with great joy that I share the following meditation…Temple of Light, because I need it as much as I think most of us do! Use headphones if possible. It is a longer one, about 32 minutes, so give yourself the time to settle into it. I composed all the music and the actual meditation. By the time you get to the end, I’m hoping you feel your vibration lift and the sensation of feathers on your skin. I started working on it several years back when I was desperately searching for a “safe” place that made me feel like I could breathe. Please do let me know your thoughts and impressions as that will help me as I prepare for a general release on Youtube. Enjoy, and much love to all.
